Common name: carbonate of calcium.
Often suitable during dentition of children (Bell., Merc., Podo., Sil.).
Nervous excitement, with debility and loss of strength (Ars., Kali-P., Nux-V., Sep.).
Sees objects on closing the eyes, which vanish when they are opened (Arg-N., Bell., Chin., Op., Sulph., Tarant.) (D.).
Apprehension of some future misfortune (Anac., Chin-S., Graph., Psor.).
Anxious shuddering and awe as soon as evening draws near (Acon., Kali-C., Phos.) (N.).
Low spirited and melancholic.
Despairing, hopeless of ever getting well again, with fear of death, tormenting all around him day and night (N.).
She fears she will lose her understanding, and that persons will observe her confusion of mind (Act-R.).
Palpitation: at night, and after eating (Br.)
Dry cough at night, which is apt to be loose during the day (Hep., Puls.) (D.).
SHORTNESS OF BREATH, ESPECIALLY ON GOING UPSTAIRS (Ars., Bry., Phos.) (D.).

It is of service in cases of rachitis.
The teeth appear late; the child does not learn to walk as early as is normal, and the fontanelles are late in closing. When the child is sleeping, the head perspires, so that the pillow is wet far around it (Bl.).

AGGRAVATION: In the morning; on awakening; from exertion of the mind; after eating; in cold and wet weather; from fasting; in the evening; after mid-night; from cold water; from washing; and during full moon.
AMELIORATION: From rubbing; from drawing the limbs up; whilst lying on the back; in the dark; in dry weather; and from lying on the painful side.
RELATIONSHIP. Similar to: Alum., Bell., Calc-S., Chin., Dulc., Ferr., Graph., Hep., Kali-C., Lyc., Nat-S., Sep., and Thuj.).
According to Hahnemann, Calc. must not be used before Nit-Ac. and Sulph.; may produce unnecessary complications.
Calc. acts best before Lyc., Nux-V., Phos. and Sil.
Complementary to: Bell., which is the acute of Calc.
It follows: Nit-Ac., Puls. and Sulph., and is followed by Kali-B.
Note. In children it may be often repeated. In aged people, it should not be repeated; especially if the first dose benefited, it will usually do harm.
