Common name: spanish fly.
The kind of suffering to which Canth. is best adapted, is of a violent, destructive character (G.).
The burning pain and intolerable urging to urinate are the red strands of Canth. in all inflammatory affections (A.).
Violent burning, with soreness in all parts of the body, especially in the cavities.
Throat and larynx painfully constricted and as if on fire (Bell., Lach., Phyt.) (B.).
Vesicles and canker in the mouth (J.).
Sensation of cutting in inner parts (Bell., Merc., Nit-Ac.).
Sensation of dryness in the joints (Croc., Lyc., Nux-V., Phos-Ac., Puls.).
Pricking in inner parts (Bry., Ign., Kali-B., Kali-C., Phos., Sil.).
Burning thirst, but averse to liquids (Ars.) (B.).

Erysipelas, with blebs or large blisters filled with water and attended with burning pains (N.).

It is a valuable remedy in the passage of renal calculi, especially when the pains are violent (F.).
Disgust for everything-drink, food, tobacco (Br.).
Drinking even small quantities of water increases pain in the bladder (A.).
Stitches in the chest (Bry., Kali-C., Merc., Phos., Sulph.) (C.).
Pleurisy, with exudation (Apis, Bry., Kali-I., Nit-Ac., Phos., Sulph.) (B.).
Grinding of teeth (Ars., Bell., Calc.) (C.).
Objects look yellow (Aloe, Ars., Bell., Cann-I., Cina, Crot-H., Cycl., Dig., Kali-B., Plb., Sant., Sep., Sulph., Zinc.) (D.).
Face: pale or yellowish, and bears on an expression of deep-seated suffering (F.).
Facial erysipelas: the erysipelatous inflammation begins on the nose, either with or without vesicles. It often spreads to one or the other cheek (F.).
Erythema, from exposure to sun's rays (sun-burn) (A.).
Fiery, sparkling, staring look (C.).
Thickly furred tongue (Ant-C., Bry., Kali-M., Puls.) (C.).
Pain in loins, with incessant desire to urinate (Lyc.) (C.).
The right side is mostly affected (Lyc.).
AGGRAVATION: From coffee; before, during and after micturition; from sight of water; from bright objects; while drinking; from touch or approach; and at night.
AMELIORATION: From rubbing; and from lying quietly on the back.
