Common names: common salt; chloride of sodium.
Often of great benefit in the treatment of malarial disease and intermitting fevers.
Hard chill about 11 A.M., with great thirst which continues through all stages; the heat is characterized by the most violent headache (Ra.).
Continued chilliness and want of animal heat very marked (Nux-V., Sil.).
Intermittent fever made inveterate by the use of quinine (Apis, Ars., Ign., Ipec., Nux-V., Puls., Sep., Sulph.) (N.).
Pulse intermitting (Dig., Ign.).
Twitching in the muscles and limbs (Bell., Cupr., Kali-P., Mag-P., Stram.).
Shortening of the muscles (Am-M., Caust., Sil.).
Painful contraction of the hamstrings (Hr.).
Great coldness of the body, with disposition to put on more clothing.
INTERMITTENT FEVER WITH SPLITTING HEADACHE (Nux-V.).

The stools are dry, crumbling, hard, and difficult to expel (Mag-M.) (D.).

WATERY LEUCORRHOEA (Graph., Nit-Ac., Puls.) (D.).
Especially useful in uterine troubles, accompanied by backache, which is relieved by laying on the back, or on something hard (D.).
Every morning pressing and pushing towards the genitals; has to sit to prevent prolapse (Sep.) (N.).
Cutting in the urethra after micturition (Berb., Calc-P., Canth., Con., Dig., Lyc., Petros., Rhus-T., Sulph.) (N.).
Catarrh of the bladder, with burning on urinating (Hydr., Kali-B., Lyc.) (D.).

AGGRAVATION: In the morning; at night; from 10 to 11 A.M.; on lying down, especially on the left side; from the heat in general; from the heat of the sun; after abuse of quinine; during hot weather; at sea-shore; from mental exertion; and from noises.
AMELIORATION: By sweat; in the open air; from cold bathing; from lying on the right side; from pressure; from tight clothing; and while fasting.
RELATIONSHIP: Complementary to: Apis, Ign., and Sep.
ANTIDOTES: Ars., Phos. and Nit-Spir-Dulc.
